HbA1c (Diabetes)
A HbA1c test measures your average blood sugar over the past 3 months, which is a good indicator for the risk of developing pre-diabetes and diabetes. HbA1c refers to glycated haemoglobin. When the glucose (sugar) in your blood rises, it binds to the haemoglobin in your red blood cells. Red blood cells live for around 3 months, so a HbA1c test measures your average blood glucose levels over the last few months.
Full Blood Count
Full Blood Count (FBC) provides information about the different cells in the blood, these include the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Red blood cells contain haemoglobin which carries oxygen to the different tissues in the body whereas white blood cells control the immune system and protects the body from foreign invaders such as bacteria and viruses.
